New Years Resolutions

Making the resolutions that you can keep!

Every year most people make, or try to make new years resolutions. Most people have also, near enough given up by a few weeks into January.

So what is the key to keeping your new years resolutions beyond January? The key is to make resolutions that you can actually keep.

To make resolutions that you can stick to you need to look at certain aspects of your life that you believe need to be made better, and go from there but do not rush the resolutions. These resolutions may need to be done and kept to but there is no need to rush them - the slower you adapt to these changes the more likely you are to keep them.

Key areas that you may want to look at to make your resolutions....

Work and Career

  • Is your job not what you really want to be doing?
  • Is the fact you're not doing what you want getting you down?
  • Are you letting all your career worries/aspirations get in the way of you doing your current job properly?
If you think that this may apply to you then there are ways that you can combat this.

  • See your current job as a stop gap - somewhere that is keeping you going and helping you pay for your life until you get to where you want to.
  • Keep smiling and don't let your current job get to you - stressing out about it is not going to help so just keep calm and keep going.
  • Why not apply for the types of job you really want on a weekly basis, ie every Monday why not sit down at your computer and apply to the jobs you would love to have all night? You never know what might come of it.
  • Why not do something in your spare time that relates to your chosen career as it may help you in respect to getting the job you want.
Friends and Relationships

  • Do you need to stop arguing with friends and family?
  • Would you like to go out and socialise with your friends more?
  • Would you like to meet new people?
If this sounds like you, why not try these ways to change things for the better.
  • Make sure you are more considerate to your friends and family, don't just flip on the slightest thing - see it from all angles.
  • Make time to spend with each family member and all of your friends. If you spend one on one time with your mum, dad, brother or sister. Also, do the same with your friends and if you have a boyfriend make sure you spilt your time between family, friends and boyfriend equally.
Health and Lifestyle

  • Do you want to eat better and healthier?
  • Do you want to exercise more?
  • Do you need to take better care of yourself?
  • Do you need to drink less or stop smoking?
If you need to make any of these resolutions then make sure you don't put too much pressure on yourself and do it all bit by bit. For example, if you choose to exercise more, do it in steps.
  • Week One - Walk a few days a week.
  • Week Two - Do a longer walk, maybe of a weekend.
  • Week Three - Join a gym and have the gym induction.
  • Week Four - Slowly increase what you are doing, maybe start going the gym and swimming once a week and keep walking.
If you really want to make resolutions but don't think its worth it as you might not stick to them then why not take some handy hints from this blog and adapt it for you and your needs - go on, it may make 2013 that much better for you.
