The ultimate advert for women for decades - MARILYN MONROE ♥

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot."

"No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren't."

"I restore myself when I'm alone."

"If I'd of observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere."

"I am invariably late for appointments - sometimes as much as two hours. I've tried to change my ways but the things that make me late are too strong, and too pleasing."

"A career is wonderful, but you can't curl up with it on a cold night."

A great way to wake up in the morning - Yoga!

Do you struggle a little to wake up and get out of the bed in the morning?

We would all love a little more time in bed once our alarm has gone off but if you get into a good routine of going to bed at a set time and waking up to YOGA, yes YOGA - it could really help you to feel more awake in the morning.

Well, why not try this fantastic yoga technique, adapting it to what suits you best - like I did.

Step One

When you first wake up in the morning and turn your alarm off, stay lying down.

Breath in through your nose, making sure its just your chest that's moving inwards with the breath.

Breath out through your mouth, making sure its just your stomach that's moving out with the breath.

Repeat this step 4 times at first, adapting it to as much or as little as you need in the morning.

Step Two

Stretch your right arm out straight, then move your wrist round in a clockwise direction 5-10 times.

Stretch your left arm out straight, then move your wrist round in an anti-clockwise direction 5-10 times.

Step Three

Stretch your right leg out straight, then move your foot round in a clockwise direction 5-10 times.

Stretch your left leg out straight, then move your foot round in an anti-clockwise direction 5-10 times.

Step Four

Lie straight on your bed, and stretch out - stretching everything, your arms, your legs, your stomach....everywhere! Hold for as long as you need.

Then as you are finishing your stretch, sit up and get your morning going!

So if you find mornings difficult, why not try adding this to your morning/daily routine and see if it benefits you :)

New Years Resolutions

Making the resolutions that you can keep!

Every year most people make, or try to make new years resolutions. Most people have also, near enough given up by a few weeks into January.

So what is the key to keeping your new years resolutions beyond January? The key is to make resolutions that you can actually keep.

To make resolutions that you can stick to you need to look at certain aspects of your life that you believe need to be made better, and go from there but do not rush the resolutions. These resolutions may need to be done and kept to but there is no need to rush them - the slower you adapt to these changes the more likely you are to keep them.

Key areas that you may want to look at to make your resolutions....

Work and Career

  • Is your job not what you really want to be doing?
  • Is the fact you're not doing what you want getting you down?
  • Are you letting all your career worries/aspirations get in the way of you doing your current job properly?
If you think that this may apply to you then there are ways that you can combat this.

  • See your current job as a stop gap - somewhere that is keeping you going and helping you pay for your life until you get to where you want to.
  • Keep smiling and don't let your current job get to you - stressing out about it is not going to help so just keep calm and keep going.
  • Why not apply for the types of job you really want on a weekly basis, ie every Monday why not sit down at your computer and apply to the jobs you would love to have all night? You never know what might come of it.
  • Why not do something in your spare time that relates to your chosen career as it may help you in respect to getting the job you want.
Friends and Relationships

  • Do you need to stop arguing with friends and family?
  • Would you like to go out and socialise with your friends more?
  • Would you like to meet new people?
If this sounds like you, why not try these ways to change things for the better.
  • Make sure you are more considerate to your friends and family, don't just flip on the slightest thing - see it from all angles.
  • Make time to spend with each family member and all of your friends. If you spend one on one time with your mum, dad, brother or sister. Also, do the same with your friends and if you have a boyfriend make sure you spilt your time between family, friends and boyfriend equally.
Health and Lifestyle

  • Do you want to eat better and healthier?
  • Do you want to exercise more?
  • Do you need to take better care of yourself?
  • Do you need to drink less or stop smoking?
If you need to make any of these resolutions then make sure you don't put too much pressure on yourself and do it all bit by bit. For example, if you choose to exercise more, do it in steps.
  • Week One - Walk a few days a week.
  • Week Two - Do a longer walk, maybe of a weekend.
  • Week Three - Join a gym and have the gym induction.
  • Week Four - Slowly increase what you are doing, maybe start going the gym and swimming once a week and keep walking.
If you really want to make resolutions but don't think its worth it as you might not stick to them then why not take some handy hints from this blog and adapt it for you and your needs - go on, it may make 2013 that much better for you.
